This course meets the NCBTMB recertification requirements for self-care. Ayurveda is the science of self healing and is the foundation of this holistic self-care online course which is designed to provide you with the understanding, guidelines and tools to achieve a life of balance based on the wisdom and beauty of the interconnected Vedic sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga. Ayurveda will give you the insight to understand your unique constitution. It will teach you how to recognize certain qualities within yourself and your students. These qualities will determine how you speak and relate with them, how to adjust them in poses and help them heal themselves. Even the smallest Ayurvedic suggestions will help your students.

This course will empower students with knowledge by providing specific lifestyle and nutrition suggestions. Learn how to recognize which of the five great elements are out of balance in your students and use practical protocols in your yoga classes to assist them in the recovery process. There is no such thing as an Ayurvedic Yoga class for everyone. That would be an oxymoron. Ayurveda recognizes each person as unique, so “generalizing” won’t work. You could call your class Sama Ayurvedic Yoga or Tri-dosha Ayurvedic Yoga and design the asana sequence according to the season. Sama is Sanskrit for equanimity and balance. Tri-dosha means balancing all three doshas: vata, pitta & kapha. You could teach a Pitta Yoga Class or Vata Yoga Class or Kapha Yoga Class, all offered separately. It would be way too challenging to try to pacify everyone’s specific doshic imbalance in one class, though there are some asana’s that are tri-doshic (good for all). Discover which ones they are in this course.
